General Tips Writing The Resume:
  • Make the resume short, clear and concise
  • Center your name, address, phone number and
  • E-Mail address on top
  • Give resume a title
  • Always use typed and printout resumes
  • Use only short sentences
  • Use large and clear font size
  • Print resumes only on white sheets
  • Match your skills with the job description
  • Experience must be given first if it weighs a lot than your education

Resume Formats:

Chronological Resume:

Chronological resume works for the candidate who has strong and solid work history, it starts with listing the work experience first with the most recent on the top, it is written in reverse chronological order. It is easy for the employers to go for a quick glance to know your skills and to find out for suitability.

Functional Resume:

The people who most often change the careers and who have gaps in their work history use functional resume. It focuses on your skills and experience, rather than on your chronological work history.

Combination Resume:

Combination resume is the combination of both chronological and functional resume, it gives importance for both skills and experience. Skills must be highlighted with relevant to the job you are applying for.

Targeted Resume:

targeted resume is a resume that specifically highlights the experience and skills you have that are relevant to the job you are applying for. It takes more work to write a targeted resume. However, it's well worth the effort, especially when applying for jobs that are a perfect match for your qualifications and experience.

Mini Resume:

mini resume contains a brief summary of your career highlights qualifications. It can be used for networking purposes or shared upon request from a prospective employer or reference writer who may want an overview of your accomplishments, rather than a full length resume.

Scannable:

Scannable resume can be optically scanned and placed into a computer data base to assist employers in reviewing resumes. For this type of resumes use white resume paper. Do not underline and use bullets or asterisks instead of graphics. Use times new roman sizes 11-16.

Electronic

Electronic resume is carried within the text of an e-mail message. Do not use tabs. Left justify your resume. Save resume in a plain text format.

Accounting Resume Tips:

Accounting resume must highlight the most important information about your accounting experience, skills and education.

Steps:
1. Contact information: name, address, phone no.,E-Mail ID clearly
2. Objective: concise statement with the carrier goal
3. Accounting skills: mention accounting related skills
4. Accounting education: give in reverse chronological order with degree, year of graduation, university and any certifications related to job applying for.
5. Accounting experience: give the most recent first, emphasize on accounting related contributions.
6. Activities: mention community activities, responsibilities, and accomplishments. Use only action verbs when giving the statements of accomplishments.

Marketing Resume Tips:
You are marketing yourself, present your information quickly, clearly, and in a way that makes your experience relevant to the position, condense your information down to its most powerful form
Steps:
1. Contact information: name, address, phone no., E-Mail ID clearly
2. Objective: specific statement which includes position and relevant skills.
3. summary of qualification: this is for experienced person for mentioning their job oriented skills.

Information Technology Resume Tips:
IT resume should clearly shows candidates IT skills. To achieve this add IT skill, software or programming languages expertise section in your resume.
Relavent to your target job profile list your qualification, from most to least.
If your educational qualification is relavent to the job for which you are applying then list it first in your resume.
quantify your experience.
Mention numerically, time periods/efficiency improved, lines of code written/debugged, numbers of machines administered/fixed, etc. which demonstrate progress or accomplishments due directly to your work.
Begin sentences with action verbs related to IT field.
Show yourself as someone who is active, uses their brain, and gets things done.

Highlight some of your soft skills in a career as a programmer to add a personality to your resume. Remember your resume should be short enough, yet should be able to effectively showcase your achievements. Do not make it excessively lengthy.

Admin Resume Tips:
An administration resume must be clear and relevant to the position.That means condensing your information down to its most powerful form.
Focus on the following areas:
Skills
Areas of expertise
Certifications
Accomplishments

Technology resumes Tips:
Include your technology-related skills. Your skills must be related to the job you are applying for. Keep the items with which you are most proficient near the top of the list.

Categorize your skills. Give general heading such as "Network Security”, If you can list several of these category-level skills, they can be used on the resume in a separate section. They can also be used as descriptions in your summary or objective section.

List your certifications. If you have more than two, you will want to include them in your technology section. If you have two or less, move them to an "Education and Certification" section. Your education section can be placed at the bottom of the resume if your experience outweighs your education .
Begin sentences with action verbs

Format the information so that it is readable, and very easy to scan at a glance. Use bullets and organize your resume.
